Submersible Use (In-Water): Leave the front filter cage attached and connect ONE hose to the top water outlet.

Inline / Land Use (Out-of-Water): Remove the front filter cage and connect TWO hoses (one to the inlet, one to the outlet). IMPORTANT WARNING: It is NOT self-priming! The pump MUST be placed physically lower than the tank's water level so gravity forces water into the pump chamber. Never run the pump dry!
