A: Typically, the rubber gasket should be placed on the outside of the water tank wall, and the hex locking nut is tightened over it. However, if your tank interior surface is perfectly flat and smooth, you can place the gasket on either side. Ensure the contact surfaces are clean of burrs and plastic shavings before tightening.
